Swan Centre on Their Way To Green Glory
The Swan Centre, Eastleigh announced today that it has
just scooped two silver awards at the 2016 Green Apple Environment Awards, for
both Energy Saving and Water Efficiency.
The Centre competed against more than 500 nominees within
the Environmental Best Practice category and won the awards for a 28.5% saving
in total energy consumption and a 28% reduction in water use.
Daniel Kitchen; Swan Centre Manager, and John
Parker; Operations Manager, attended the presentation ceremony in the Houses of
Parliament, where they received their Green Apple trophies and certificates. ‘We
were delighted to be recognized for our achievements in energy and water saving
at the Green Apple Awards and honoured to have the opportunity to be a Green
World Ambassador for 2017, ‘ said Daniel Kitchen. ‘The environment will
continue to be a strong focus for the whole team at the Swan Centre, and we are
looking forward to working on the next ‘green’ initiative.
As a result of this Green Apple Award success, The
Swan Centre has now been invited to have their winning paper published in The
Green Book, the leading international work of reference on environmental best
practice, so that others around the world can follow their example and learn
from their achievement. They could also progress to represent their country in
the Green World Awards, and the European Business Awards for the Environment.
The Green Apple Awards began in 1994 and have become
established as the country’s major recognition for environmental endeavour
among companies, councils, communities and countries.
The Green Apple Awards are supported by the
Environment Agency, the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health, the
Chartered Institution for Wastes Management and other independent bodies.
