Bowling Event raises funds

On Tuesday 29 September the Mayor of Eastleigh held a charity bowling event at AMF Bowling in the Swan Centre.

Over £200 was raised for the Mayor’s Appeal Charities – Home-Start, Eastleigh, The Rainbow Centre and The BIG Art Project.

The “Bowl-Off” took place between dignitaries from many local boroughs, including Tim Knight, Chair of Hampshire County Council, Ian Hibberd,  Mayor of Test Valley, Teresa Hibberd, Mayoress of Test Valley, Jan Puttock, Jackie Branson, Mayor of Havant, Les Puttock, Chair of the New Forest District Council, Diane Searle, Mayor of Gosport, Ken Searle, Mayor’s Escort, Brian Gurdon, Mayor of Basingstoke, Eleanor Gurdon, Mayoress of Basingstoke, Pamela Holden-Brown, Mayor of Eastleigh, Terry Holden-Brown, Mayor’s Escort and Richard Izard, Deputy Mayor of  Winchester.

All three of the charities will benefit from this event as a result of the Mayor of Eastleigh’s continued work to support charities in the borough.

Home-Start Eastleigh offers weekly support to families with at least one child under 5, who live in the Borough of Eastleigh and Test Valley South who are having family difficulties.

The Rainbow Centre is a very special place of warmth and hope where children with disabilities go to learn how to do things such as sit up, feed themselves, learn to stand and walk. These children mostly have cerebral palsy.

The BIG Art Project seeks to motivate, empower, define and inspire through art by providing greater opportunities and a supporting environment where young people and artists who are deaf, disabled and able bodied can work together to develop access to appreciation and participation in the arts at the highest level. The Charity is working in partnership with Southampton based charity Artswork to deliver the Arts Award Program to young people via art workshops in schools and the community.
