What's On

Accessibility and Sensory Shopping

Sat 6th October 2018

The Swan Centre has teamed up with leading autism charity, the National Autistic Society to hold an Accessibility event on Saturday 6 October from 11am to 3pm when shoppers will be able to talk to people who can offer advice on accessing support and information on how we can make life better for people coping with Autism Spectrum Conditions.

Visitors will be able to speak to people from The National Autistic Society, Autism Hampshire, One Community, Shop Mobility and Age Concern.

Regular visitors to the Swan Centre are already familiar with our Sensory Sundays when, on the last Sunday of every month all music is turned off, hand driers replaced with paper towels and stores requested to either turn their in-store music off or have it at a low level. This initiative is being extended on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 October when we will hold an entire Sensory Weekend in association with Autism Hour.

You can find our new Sensory Guide by clicking on our Accessibility tab or by clicking the link here

Vue have added two extra autism friendly screenings this month to tie in with our Accessibility and Sensory Shopping weekend.

Teen Titans Go! To The Movies will be showing at 10:15 on both Saturday AND Sunday.

Tickets cost £2.49 each for standard seats, there will be no adverts or trailers before the film,  lights remain on during the screening,  sound levels are reduced and allowances are made for movement and noise.
